how to make stockinette interesting?

19 May

Throw in some crazy construction.

I’ve started the Empire Waist Cardigan by Classic elite, using the Elann Luna.  I’m still loving the yarn – even in stockinette it isn’t painful to knit!  The top of this sweater is knit sideways from sleeve to sleeve, and then stitches are picked up for the skirt.   It’s going quickly, although I am not looking forward to the bottom!  The pattern so far is very clear (this is my first Classic Elite pattern, though I like many of their other patterns lately, so it is not the last!)

I have been busy planning our vacation, coming up next week.  We’ll be gone for about a week and a half, with Marc finally getting to show me Wisconsin.  It should be super fun!  I love to travel, and something I hope to do in the future is take more weekend trips (I have Fridays off, and Marc has every other friday.)

You’ll be in Madison, yes? You’ve got to check out Lakeside Fibers and the Sow’s Ear (in Verona, but that’s not far). Both great yarn shops, and they both have coffee shops, too.

Susan beat me to the punch! She gave you the same advice I was going to.

I hope the weather holds out for your visit. It is heavenly here at this time.

Bring a wide variety of clothes to Wisconsin – our weather is like a yo-yo these days. Have a great visit!

Have a great trip to Wisconsin! :) I can’t wait until we can start thinking about taking trips.. just a few weeks yet.

The knitting looks great. I love how that yarn looks in stockinette.

Не понимаю причину такого ажиотажа. Ничего нового и мнения разные.

That’s very interesting. I am doing a sideways construction too but it’s in crochet. Still a WIP on my blog.

How long does it normally take you to knit a sweater?

Lovely color! I’ve never knit anything sideways, but it looks like fun!

Have you tried Abuelita Yarns? I used them for the first time last year and “fall in love” with them.. really recommendable!

Good luck with your new project!

OK, who speaks Greek and can translate Ferdinannnd’s comment? I lived in Athens as a child and can read a little bit… I think it says “Jessica, you always knit the coolest stuff!” Either that, or “Enlarge your…” ;)

I can’t wait to see the cardi when you get back from vacation. I have some of that yarn, in the same color actually, but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet.
